AI Visibility (Beta)

Updated today

⚡️This article provides an overview of the AI Visibility dashboard beta release.

Overview

The AI Visibility dashboard is a report that measures how often your brand and content appear in AI-generated search results, focusing on AI visibility. It demonstrates your visibility in the new AI search landscape and enables you to compare your performance with that of your competitors. The AI Visibility dashboard data enables you to drive organic performance across AI search and inform enhancements to your search strategy and other content decisions, supporting the evolving AI landscape.

How Share of Voice Differs from Rank Tracking

You are probably familiar with monitoring your site's position in SERPs for specific keywords, but Share of Voice differs in that it measures your brand’s visibility relative to your competitors, rather than specific rankings. Share of Voice offers a broader view of market dominance and potential traffic, allowing you to measure your brand's impact and visibility across your industry. Understanding your AI Share of Voice is especially important, since users no longer have to click to get answers to their queries about your brand or content.

⚡️ About the Beta Release

The Beta Release is a preview available for a limited time to selected clients. Because we will continue to actively develop the dashboard during this test period, expect to see frequent changes, bugs, and some differences between what is documented here and the user interface. The intent of the Beta Release is to test functionality and gather feedback; it does not guarantee that any feature or functionality included in the Beta Release will be included in the final release. Data will be updated weekly in the initial release, which we expect to provide meaningful trend analysis. However, we will evaluate this through the beta period.

Prerequisites

  • You must have your GSC data integrated with your Botify project to enable data analysis in the AI Visibility dashboard.

  • The AI Discovery report requires your web server traffic data to be integrated with your Botify project .

How it Works

This dashboard incorporates new metrics to measure AI visibility, including brand metrics and citation frequency, as traditional SEO metrics do not apply to AI-generated answers. The initial release includes search data from ChatGPT and Perplexity. We currently use a combination of API access and vetted third-party web scraping. This approach yields more accurate results than API-only solutions because it captures the full context, including system prompts and user memory, which influence responses.

The Process

We use the following process to populate the AI Analytics dashboard:

Generate Prompts

There are two methods for prompt generation:

Botify-Generated Prompts

We generate prompts using your site data, website categories, and “People Also Ask” expansion logic. This data-driven approach creates a comprehensive set of prompts that reflect actual user behavior.

The steps to generate prompts include:

  • Analyzing your top-performing keywords from Google Search Console.

  • Incorporating "People Also Ask" questions related to those keywords.

  • Segmenting prompts by intent (informational, commercial, transactional).

  • Separating branded and non-branded queries.

Self-Generated Prompts

You can generate category campaigns by identifying your website categories, from which we will generate relevant prompts using an LLM. You can also upload your prompts from a CSV file.

Evaluate Queries in AI Search

We run the generated prompts through ChatGPT and Perplexity weekly. You can additionally select the countries where you want to run the prompts.

Analysis

We record the full list of competitors, mentions, domain links, sentiment, and we calculate your Share of Voice.

Delivery

We integrate the insights directly into the AI Analytics dashboards.

Campaigns

In the Campaigns section, you can choose how to track your AI visibility based on your preferences. Create custom campaigns with your own prompts through a simple, automated interface that allows you to import lists from CSV or create them directly in the platform through GSC or your website categories.

Botify creates a default campaign from your top GSC keywords. All campaigns populate the filter in the Overview report, enabling you to filter AI visibility by each campaign:

Creating Campaigns

To create your own campaign to track in the AI Visibility report:

  1. Click Create Campaign.

  2. Give your campaign a name to identify it.

  3. Select a source for prompts and keywords: Your top keywords from GSC, your website categories, or an uploaded CSV file.

  4. Select the LLMs where you want to analyze prompts, then click Next.

  5. Select the countries to analyze, then click Next.

  6. Review your selections, then click Create Campaign. The new campaign populates the campaign list.

Managing Campaign Distribution

The allocation of prompts is distributed equally across all campaigns by default. To adjust the distribution to increase or decrease the number of prompts generated for each campaign:

  1. Click Manage Distribution.

  2. Click Distribute evenly to allocate an even number of prompts to each campaign; or

  3. Use the sliders to increase or decrease the percentage of allocation for each campaign.

  4. Click Save changes.

Answers

The Answers section of the AI Visibility report shows the number of analyzed prompt answers. Prompt answers are the combination of the query and all applied filters (e.g., country and platform). Prompts are generated in batches; the interval at which these batches are generated is still to be determined. Use the date dropdown at the top right of the page to view details for each batch.

Competitors

The competitive analysis reveals how your brand compares to competitors across AI platforms, giving visibility into where you are winning and losing over time. You can track up to five competitors in the AI Visibility Overview report. The visibility percentage is your share of voice across all analyzed prompts.

Identifying Selected Competitors

To add or delete competitors to track:

  1. Click Manage Competitors.

  2. Add the name of a competitor in the text field, then click Add.

  3. Click the X next to a selected competitor to remove it.

  4. Click Save changes. The competitors you have identified will be labeled as “Selected” in the Competitors report and will populate the competitors' visualizations in the Overview report.
