Evaluating AI Visibility Answers

Updated this week

๐Ÿ“˜ This article provides explains the Answers section of the AI Visibility dashboard, part of Botify's Analytics Suite, available as an option with all Botify plans.

Overview

The Answers section of the AI Visibility report shows the number of analyzed prompt answers for the selected period. Prompt answers are the combination of the query and all applied filters (e.g., country and platform). Prompts are generated weekly in batches on the day of the week the campaign was first run. Refer to Managing AI Visibility Campaigns for more details.

โ“ Why โ€œanswersโ€ instead of โ€œpromptsโ€?

We look at answers because they group individual prompts with the dimensions applied to them (i.e., country and platform), since a single prompt can produce many results. Consider the following example:

To retrieve Google AI Mode and ChatGPT results for the following prompt in France and the USA, โ€œWhatโ€™s the best AI search tool?โ€, there would be four answers:

  1. Prompt for Google AI Mode in France

  2. Prompt for Google AI Mode in the USA

  3. Prompt for ChatGPT in France

  4. Prompt for ChatGPT in the USA

The following metrics are included in the Answers report:

  • Prompt: The actual query sent to the LLM.

  • Platform: The AI platform where the prompt was submitted.

  • Country: The country where the prompt was sent.

  • Visible: Whether your brand was visible in the AI answer.

  • Intent: The purpose, goal, or desired outcome behind a user query (e.g., transactional, commercial, informational), as determined by an LLM.

  • Sentiment: The tone of the AI response when your brand is mentioned (e.g., positive, neutral, negative), as determined by an LLM.

  • Type: Whether the prompt included branded or non-branded keywords, as determined by an LLM.

  • Last answer date: The most recent date when the LLM provided an answer to the prompt.

Customizing the AI Visibility Answers Report

In addition to the global AI Visibility report filters, you can customize the report display in the following ways:

๐Ÿ‘‰ We only retrieve links from the response body; we do not retrieve the links used as sources in the AI response.

Excluding Prompts

If you find prompts are irrelevant, you can remove them so they are no longer part of a campaign, including its history. To exclude a prompt, click the three-dot menu in the answer row, then click Exclude prompt:

๐Ÿ‘€ Excluding a prompt removes it from all answers (prompt + platform + country combination).
