Configuring Custom Report Components

πŸ“˜ This article describes how to configure components to be used in custom reports. The CustomReports capability is available with all Botify plans.

Overview

Custom Reports in Botify can include a total of twenty components of the following types in any combination:

  • KPIs: Key performance indicators based on Botify metrics and dimensions. You can select up to six KPIs to track within each KPI component of a custom report.

  • Charts: Choose from many Botify charts, insight, and tables to add to your custom report.

  • Custom Tables: Tables you define with multiple metrics and dimensions or one metric over time. Refer to the Custom Tables Overview article for more information.

  • Custom Charts: Add charts you and your team create and save as Keyword Explorer bookmarks in RealKeywords to your custom reports.

  • Text Components: Three types of text components you can add to your custom reports to identify sections and share insights.

You configure components after you click the "Add a Component to Your Report" tile while creating a custom report.

KPIs

You can add a variety of KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to each custom report component with a maximum of six. Each KPI includes operators based on the data type to adjust how the KPI is summarized.

To add a KPI to a custom report:

  1. Select the KPIs component type.

  2. Search to refine the list of KPIs or navigate directly to the desired KPIs (up to six). The selected KPIs are added to the Selected KPIs list on the right.

  3. Expand the dropdown list to set the operator for each selected KPI.

  4. Click Next.

  5. Optionally, click the Add a Filter link to refine the list to a specific group of URLs using any Botify field. Click the field name to select it as a filter, and then set the field-specific conditions.

  6. Click Add Component to add the KPI to your custom report.

KPI Component Example

To create a custom report component to track content duplication of key page elements, start with the following KPIs:

  • No. of Duplicate Title (Among All URLs)

  • No. of Duplicate Description (Among All URLs)

  • No. of Duplicate H1 (Among All URLs)

Charts

You can add most charts, insights, and tables available in standard Botify Analytics reports to your custom report. Charts are available for the following URL types:

  • Current: URLs crawled in the selected current crawl.

  • Disappeared: URLs crawled in the selected previous crawl but not the current crawl.

  • New: URLs crawled in the selected current crawl but not in the selected previous crawl.

To add a chart to a custom report:

  1. Select the Chart component type.

  2. Select the URL type.

  3. Select the desired field, and then click Next.

  4. Optionally, click the Add a Filter link to refine the list to a specific group of URLs using any Botify field. Click the field name to select it as a filter, and then set the field-specific conditions.

  5. Click Add Component to add the KPI to your custom report.

Chart Component Example

To create a custom report component to visualize the ratio of indexable or non-indexable pages in a specific page group, use the following:

  • URL type: Current

  • Field: Indexable / Non-indexable URLs Distribution

Custom Tables

Custom Tables are custom tables that include the specific rows and metrics you choose. You add a Custom Table component after creating the custom table.

To add a custom table to a custom report:

  1. Select the Custom Tables component type.

  2. Select the name of the custom table, and then click Add Component.

Refer to the Custom Tables Overview article for information on custom tables.

Custom Charts

The charts you and your team create and save as Keyword Explorer bookmarks in RealKeywords are available to add to your custom reports.

To add a Keywords Explorer chart to a custom report:

  1. Click the + icon at the bottom of the report.

  2. Select the Custom Charts component type. The Keyword Explorer bookmarks are displayed.

  3. Click the name of the desired bookmark or use the search and filter options at the top to locate a specific bookmark. Alternatively, click the Create a bookmark in the Explorer link to open a new tab in the Keywords Explorer where you can create a new chart to save it as an Explorer bookmark.

  4. Click Add Component.

Text Components

You can add three types of text components to your custom reports to help identify sections and share insights:

  • Heading text: A simple, one-line text heading that can be useful for labeling report sections.

  • Text card: A block of formatted text to highlight details of the neighboring report components.

  • Info card: Similar to a Text Card, a block of formatted text with a heading and icon.

To add a text component to a custom report:

  1. Click the + icon at the bottom of the report.

  2. Select a text component type. The component is added to the bottom of the report.

  3. Click on the component to edit the text.

  4. Click outside the component to save your changes.

  5. As with other report components, you can delete and reorder them.

Adding Hyperlinks to Text Components

You can add links to enhance the descriptive text in your text and info card components. Clicking these links opens the web page in a separate browser tab.

To add a hyperlink to a text component:

  1. With the text to be linked highlighted in the text component, click the link icon.

  2. Click the pencil icon, then type the page URL to link.

  3. Click the checkmark icon to save the link.
