Custom Tables Overview

Overview

Crawling your site with Botify surfaces hundreds of unique data points that can be used for proactive optimization or analysis after changing your site. Custom tables unlock the ability to do more complex analyses, see trends over time, and pivot those data points according to your preferences. When analyzing or hypothesizing the impact of changes to your website, use custom tables to view the data from every angle to make the most informed decisions about improving your rankings.

There are two types of custom tables to display custom views of your analysis results:

  • Multi-column: Displays multiple indicators in separate columns retrieved from the current crawl report.

  • History: Displays the change of a single indicator over time, retrieved from the last five crawl reports (if available) to show a trend line.

Benefits of Custom Tables

Custom tables provide all the data you want in the same view, allowing you to see the cause and effect between indicators easily. While standard Botify reports show the most common views, custom tables offer the following advantages:

  • Global views with several indicators side-by-side that are not otherwise available together in the same report.

  • Information by segment, for all segments at a glance. Standard reports require you to filter for each segment first and then view one segment at a time.

  • Trend lines are available for all data points, while standard reports only have a selection of trend lines by default (e.g., in the Insights subsections of the SiteCrawler report).

Custom Tables Use Cases

The following are just a few examples of how you can configure custom tables:

  • Track content uniqueness over time by segment and for pages that generate organic traffic, such as the number of indexable and non-indexable pages found for each page type in each crawl.

  • View the number of organic visits in the last 30 days, average load time, % of internal PageRank, maximum depth, or simply the number of pages in the group.

  • Compare visits to structural indicators by segment: sum of visits, % of internal PageRank, average depth, min/max/average number of inlinks.
