📘 This article outlines the RealKeywords capability in Botify's Analytics Suite, available with all Botify plans.
Overview
RealKeywords includes all keyword and URL data from Google Search Console (GSC) to show which queries brought organic visits to your site and how your pages ranked. URL data from SiteCrawler is included to provide insight into how SEO metrics affect the ranking of these pages, such as depth, number of inlinks, and device type. You can also get your competitors' rankings in RealKeywords with the Semrush integration to show where you may be missing opportunities.
RealKeywords can be used to accomplish SEO tasks such as:
Identifying keywords that result in impressions but no clicks.
Identifying keywords where you rank in a position with low organic CTR.
Finding keywords that are performing worse on mobile.
Prerequisite
RealKeywords requires integrating your GSC data. Refer to the Integrating GSC Data article to learn how to connect your GSC account and retrieve your last 16 months of data for RealKeywords. After your GSC data is integrated, the latest available data is imported into RealKeywords daily.
While your GSC keyword data is sampled, Botify Pro and Enterprise customers can decrease and, in some cases, eliminate this sampling with the Bulk Data Export integration.
Navigating RealKeywords
Access RealKeywords through the main navigation bar: Analytics > RealKeywords:
RealKeywords Sections
RealKeywords is organized into the following sections. Navigate to each section by clicking the link in the left-hand panel.
RealKeywords Fields
The RealKeywords fields from GSC and your analytics provider are in the Rankings category in the RealKeywords report filter and column selectors. Metrics from LogAnalyzer (your log data) are in the Main Crawl Metrics and URL Scheme sections, and SiteCrawler fields (Botify crawls) are in the Crawlability category. Customize your reports using these fields to filter your data or use them as columns in your Keyword Explorer reports.
Common RealKeywords Fields
While all RealKeywords fields provide valuable insights, we recommend creating reports or filtering existing reports with the following fields to get started with your keyword performance evaluation:
Main Keyword: The keyword with the highest number of clicks and impressions for a unique URL. Use this field to help you research and refine your keyword opportunities. For example, quickly check the main keywords for your striking distance URLs to understand how they must improve for better rankings.
Main URL: The URL that drives the most clicks to a specific keyword. Use this field to check if the right URL ranks first for your most important keywords. For example, if you want a new product’s name to rank first instead of an older version, or a press release about the product.
No. URLs to Reach 90% Keyword Clicks: The total number of URLs needed to reach 90% of the clicks on any keyword. This metric can help you identify content to optimize where you have cannibalization from different URLs competing for the same keyword, each with a fair amount of clicks.
No. Keywords to Reach 90% Page Clicks: The total number of keywords needed to reach 90% of the clicks on any URL. It is easier to manage the content of a URL with few keywords generating the most traffic than a URL with many keywords generating the most traffic.
URL Position for Keyword: The URL position for a specific keyword (e.g., a "2" value is the second best-performing URL for a keyword).
No. of URLs (Search Console) on Page 1: For each keyword, the number of URLs with an average position in search results of #10 or less.
Number of URLs (Search Console) on Pages 2+: For each keyword, the number of URLs with an average position in search results greater than #10.
Number of Keywords Where URL on Page 1: The number of keywords for a URL where the rankings (URL, keyword) have an average position in search results of #10 or less.
Number of Keywords where URL on Pages 2+: The number of keywords for a URL where the rankings (URL, keyword) have an average position in search results greater than #10.
About Keyword Sampling
The Keyword Sampling section of RealKeywords reveals the sampling rate of your GSC data. Your GSC data is sampled for clicks and impressions. The higher the sampling rate, the more data you will have in RealKeywords. Google provides the keywords and URLs that generate the most impressions and clicks and primarily samples long-tail keywords. This means you may be missing important performance data. For example, an impression sampling rate of 85% means you are missing 15% of your impressions, and you may miss more keywords or URLs since they are long-tail keywords.
To reduce and, in some cases, eliminate sampling, integrate your full GSC data in Botify with the GSC bulk data export integration.
To access Keyword Sampling, navigate to RealKeywords > Keyword Sampling.
The sampling rates on this page include only the web search type; image, news, and video are excluded.
