Measuring AgenticCatalog Performance in Insights

📘 This article explains how to measure the traffic your AgenticCatalog feeds generate and the effect of enrichment. AgenticCatalog is part of Botify's Activation Suite, available as an option with all Botify plans.

Overview

The Insights report reveals how much traffic AI platforms are driving to your product detail pages, and how much revenue comes from your feeds. Pulled from Google Merchant Center and the visits from your integrated analytics source, the AgenticCatalog Insights report shows the performance of the products AgenticCatalog delivers to each destination:

  • Feed impact: Clicks and impressions for products delivered to Google Merchant Center (GMC), and visits from ChatGPT to pages delivered to OpenAI.

  • Enrichment impact: When a split test is running, a comparison of enriched products (the variant group) against non-enriched products (the control group).

The report measures only the products and pages that AgenticCatalog delivered to the selected destination by the end of the selected period. Products in your GMC account that AgenticCatalog did not deliver are excluded.

To open Insights, click Insights in the AgenticCatalog menu:

Prerequisites

You must have the following to see full data in the Insights report:

Connecting Google Merchant Center

The Google tab imports clicks and impressions for each product from GMC. To give AgenticCatalog access to this data, add Botify's service account to your Merchant Center account. You only need to do this once for each Merchant Center account.

To connect Google Merchant Center:

  1. In Insights, click Google settings. The Google Settings page opens.

  2. In the "Product performance" section, click the Copy icon next to the service account to copy it.

  3. In GMC, navigate to Settings > People and access.

  4. Add the service account as a Standard user, and turn on Performance and insights access for it.

  5. On the Google Settings page in AgenticCatalog Insights, enter your Merchant Center account ID in the "Merchant Center account ID" field. This number appears in Merchant Center under your account name.

  6. Click Set up transfer to save the connection.

When Botify can read your performance reports, the page shows Merchant Center access confirmed, and the status in the "Product performance" section changes from Not connected to Active. Merchant Center data is imported every 24 hours, and the first data appears in Insights within 24 hours of setup.

👉 Botify pulls the entire product performance history from the first day the merchant account had any performance data.

To return to the dashboard, click Back to Insights.

Removing the connection

To stop importing Merchant Center data, click Remove transfer on the Google Settings page. The Google tab then shows the "Merchant Center not connected" message.

Choosing what to view

Use the controls at the top of the page to define the data shown:

  1. Destination tabs: Select Google or OpenAI. Since each tab measures a different source, do not compare figures across tabs.

  2. Feed source: Shown only when more than one feed source has delivered feeds. Select the feed source to measure. The default is the most recently delivered feed source.

  3. Metric (Google tab only): Select Clicks or Impressions. Every figure and chart on the page follows this selection.

  4. Period: Select the time range, such as “Last 30 days”.

The dates shown beside the controls are the period the figures cover. The period ends on the most recent day for which data is available, not on today's date, because GMC and analytics data arrive with a delay.

💡 The page URL stores your selections, so you can share a link that opens on the same view.

Understanding feed performance

The top section of the page reports the total performance of the products delivered to the selected destination.

Google tab

Figures come from GMC performance data for the delivered products. Google reports two channels:

  • Organic: Free listings.

  • Paid: Shopping ads.

The "Products pushed to Google" section includes:

  • Summary tiles: Total, organic, and paid clicks or impressions for the period. Organic plus paid equals the total.

  • Daily chart: One bar per day, with organic and paid stacked. The bar height is the day's total.

OpenAI tab

Figures are visits from ChatGPT to the pages delivered to OpenAI, as recorded by your analytics source, and identified by the “chatgpt.com” UTM parameter. The OpenAI tab reports visits only. Since paid traffic is not measurable for OpenAI, no paid figure is shown.

Understanding enrichment performance

When a split test is running on the destination, AgenticCatalog delivers a share of products without enrichment (the control group) and the rest with enrichment (the variant group). The split-test section compares the two groups. This section does not appear if no split test is running.

👀 The split-test figures are averages per product (per page on the OpenAI tab), not totals. The two groups are usually different sizes, and a total grows with group size, so only an average shows the effect of enrichment.

Average clicks per product

The card heading states the period the averages cover. This period starts on the date the split test started if the test is more recent than the selected period, so the averages include only days when the test was running.

The card includes:

  • Control group: The average for non-enriched products over the period, followed by its organic and paid split.

  • Variant group: The average for enriched products over the period, followed by its organic and paid split.

  • Difference: The variant average compared to the control average, as a percentage. A positive value (green) means enriched products earned more per product than non-enriched products; a negative value (red) means they earned less.

For example, a control group average of 14.40 clicks per product and a variant group average of 20.52 clicks per product produce a difference of +42.5%.

Organic and paid performance charts

The "Organic performance" and "Paid performance" charts plot the daily average per product for each group: control in gray, variant in color. Each group's average is calculated on the number of products in the group that day, so the curves remain accurate as products are added to the feed.

Use the dropdown above the charts to change how both charts are drawn:

  • 7-day rolling average (default): Each point is the average of the previous seven days, which smooths out weekday variations.

  • Daily: Each point is that day's average. Use this view to check whether weekly patterns differ between the groups.

If the selected period starts before the split test, the chart shows a single "Before split" curve up to the start date, marked by a Split test line, and then the two group curves.

When Insights shows no data

If a measurement cannot run, Insights shows a message stating why instead of the charts:
