📘 This article explains how query fan-outs, sub-queries AI engines perform in response to a user query, are surfaced in the AI Visibility dashboard. The AI Visibility dashboard, part of Botify's Analytics Suite, is available as an option with all Botify plans.
Overview
AI Query fan-out is a pattern that takes a single user request and breaks it into several sub-requests that run simultaneously. The results get merged together in the AI engine's response. Instead of seeing isolated data points for every AI answer in the AI Visibility dashboard, query fan-out shows the relationships between these queries, revealing deeper insights into your AI share of voice.
👀 Fan-out queries are currently only available for ChatGPT prompts.
Discovering Query fan-outs
Access all fan-out queries for the selected period by navigating to AI Visibility > Query fan-out.
1 - Expand the answer to view the fan-out queries within each answer.
2 - The number of queries grouped with the answer as fan-out queries. Each query is listed below the answer with the percentage of change and whether they were mentioned or cited in the preview four batches.
3 - Your visibility for each answer in the most recent four batches is shown in the Mentions and Citations columns.
4 - Click the arrow at the right side of the answer row to view all answers for the query in the Answers explorer.
