π This article explains how to start working in LogAnalzyer, part of Botify's Analytics suite, available with all Botify plans.
Overview
While you do not need to integrate your logs to use Botify, we strongly recommend incorporating your log data, including visits, to realize the full benefit of Botify. Our Support team facilitates your log file integration, and after setup, your log files are automatically uploaded to Botify daily. Read about the Botify Logs Integration Process.
Navigating LogAnalyzer
Access LogAnalyzer through the global project navigation bar: Analytics > LogAnalyzer:
LogAnalyzer Sections
LogAnalyzer is organized into the following sections. Navigate to each section by clicking the link in the left-hand panel.
Reports: LogAnalyzer reports are divided into the Overview, Crawls, Visits, and Conversions sections.
URL Explorer: Global view of all URLs in your log data, to which you can apply several filters to create your preferred reports.
Logfiles Explorer: A record of your log file ingestion. The Botify Support team primarily uses this tool for troubleshooting.
Filtering by Bot
In addition to the filtering options available in all Botify reports, you can filter LogAnalyzer reports by bot. Click the bot dropdown to display log data for another bot. Available bots are defined by your Botify plan.
LogAnalyzer Fields
The following fields are available in LogAnalyzer reports. Customize your reports using these fields to filter your log data or use them as columns in your URL Explorer reports.
URL Scheme: Metrics defining the structure and type of page URLs.
Segments: The categorization of pages as defined in your project segmentation. You can also filter any of the LogAnalyzer charts by segmentation.
Crawls: Metrics for all bot crawls recorded in your logs.
Visits: Metrics for all user visits recorded in your logs.
These fields are also available in SiteCrawler and RealKeywords reports to allow you to cross data from multiple sources, though they have slightly different placements:
Viewing Log File History
Botify retrieves your log files daily and retains them in your project for a limited period, as defined by your Botify plan. After your log data is integrated with your project, navigate to LogAnalyzer > Logfiles Explorer to view your log file history and status:
The Logfiles Explorer includes the following information about your log files:
Bucket: The name of the storage bucket from which we retrieved the file.
Filename: The name that uniquely identifies the log file.
Date Discovered: The date when Botify discovered the log file.
Size: The log file size in MB.
Parsed: Whether Botify parsed the files (data extracted and organized into Botify fields), indicated by a checkmark.
Ingested: Whether Botify ingested the files (integrated with your Botify project), indicated by a checkmark.
Date range found in file: The log activity start and end dates in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).
# Crawls: The number of search engine crawls included in the log file.
# Visits: The number of user visits from search engine results pages included in the log file.
