π This article explains how to set up Generate Sitemaps, Inform IndexNow, and Push to Bing in SmartIndex. SmartIndex is part of Botify's Activation Suite, available as with a Botify Pro or Enterprise plan.
Overview
Destinations define where and how you will push content in SmartIndex. Ensure you have met the prerequisites before configuring destinations.
Access SmartIndex in the Activation Suite:
π The organization owner must activate SmartIndex to enable all project members to use it.
Getting Started with Destination Configuration
To configure any destination type, click the Create destination button.
β
This is the view when no destinations exist:
βDestinations are enabled by default. To configure a destination before enabling it, slide the toggle to the left. You can enable the destination from the Settings page at any time.β
Select the destination from the Destination Type dropdown list.
Optionally overwrite the default Destination Name. This is only used to identify the destination; it can be any name you prefer.
βContinue configuring the destination according to the instructions for each destination type:
Measuring Impact
You can measure the impact of pushing your content through SmartIndex using a simple test. In this test, SmartIndex randomly selects a group of pages that will not be pushed to the destination. The remaining pages will be pushed to the destination for the test duration.
βοΈ We strongly recommend enabling this option to demonstrate the value of pushing your new and updated content through SmartIndex. You will see the performance in an external dashboard in an upcoming release; however, the data can only be extracted if this option is enabled.
To create a test:
Enable the control group option when configuring a destination.
Identify the percentage of pages that SmartIndex will randomly select as the control group (recommended 5% or 1,000 URLs). These pages will not be pushed to the destination. The remaining percentage of pages (i.e., the variant group) will be pushed to the destination.
Saving the Configured Destination
After configuring destination settings, you save the configuration as a draft first and then make the configuration live.
To save a destination:
Click Save as draft at the bottom of the New Destination page. This will redirect you to the Destinations overview page.
βClick Update at the top of the page to make the destination settings live.
