đ This article explains how Smart Keywords are used in the RealKeywords capability, a part of Botify's Analytics Suite, available with all Botify plans.
Overview
You may see various keywords in your keyword performance reports in RealKeywords. With Smart Keywords, keywords with similar spelling variations and typos (e.g., word order, use of stopwords, misspelling, plurals) are grouped. This lets you quickly refine your keywords with less noise and requires no additional setup.
How Smart Keywords are Calculated
Smart Keywords are calculated by machine learning to analyze the syntactic intent of a keyword. Using the performance data from the previous day, Botify analyzes the groupings per URL. For example, âtelevisionâ may be the Smart Keyword label for a given URL, whereas âtelevisionsâ may be the smart keyword label for another URL. Smart Keywords are recalculated daily, so a keyword could be linked to a different Smart Keyword if there is another syntactically closer one. The keyword with the most impressions determines the group's name. This means that a group of keywords can have a different Smart Keyword title from one day to another.
Branded Keywords in Smart Keywords
Branded keywords and non-branded keywords are not mixed in a Smart Keyword. For example, if âebayâ is a branded keyword, but ânintendo switchâ is not, âebay nintendo switchâ will not be mixed with the âebayâ or ânintendo switchâ Smart Keyword.
Using Smart Keywords
You can use Smart Keywords throughout RealKeywords:
See your performance by Smart Keyword in the Keywords Explorer.

See your Smart Keywords best/worst performers (against the compared period) in the RealKeywords Overview's Winning/Losing Data Dimensions table.
Instead of filtering your RealKeywords report on a given keyword, filter on the related Smart Keyword to include the ones with close spelling variations.
