About Keyword Groups

Updated over a year ago

πŸ“˜ This article provides an overview of the Keyword Groups feature in RealKeywords, a part of Botify's Analytics Suite, available with all Botify plans.

Overview

Keyword Groups can help you understand the story your keywords are telling you. Keyword Groups allow you to group and analyze keywords within minutes instead of hours. This is a powerful tool to filter keyword performance by intent, topic, and brand at scale. With keyword grouping, you can cross-reference keyword groups with other data in RealKeywords to get a better understanding of keyword seasonality, historical comparisons, and more.

The Keyword Group page provides an overview of your Keyword Group performance. Here you can view:

  • Performance over time

FAQ

Why don't I see all the keywords I created in my Keyword Group?

  1. Make sure that you do not have a segment mistakenly selected. For example, if you created a keyword group for dresses, and had a breadcrumb selected for electronics, you may not have any data.

  2. Botify does not scrape SERP since it's against Google's terms of service. Instead, we gather real keyword data directly from Google Search Console. Learn why we don't scrape.

How many keywords can I add to a Keyword Group?

You can have up to 50,000 rules for all keyword groups (e.g., 10 groups of 5,000 rules). Please refer to the Working with Keyword Groups article for more information.

Why can't I see all of my keywords in a contains keyword?

The top ten best-performing keywords are displayed in the Keyword Groups dashboard. To view your keywords, click on the binocular icon to view the entire list in the Keywords Explorer.

How many keyword groups can I select at once?

You can select an unlimited number of keyword groups.

How many keyword groups can I create?

You can create unlimited keyword groups, as long as the sum of all rules does not exceed 50,000. Please refer to the Working with Keyword Groups article for more information.

How does a contains rule work?

Keywords that are set up with contains will search for every keyword. For example, if the keyword is *contains* shoe it will include the following, as long as the data is in your Google Search Console:

  • shoes

  • red shoes for women

  • shoeshop

Can I use Keyword Groups with filters?

Yes, you can.

Can I add Keyword Groups as a column?

Yes, you can.

Is it possible to create groups that will exclude some queries?

Yes, by including an exclude rule in the Keyword Group definition.
