Updated over a year ago

πŸ“˜ This article describes the Outlinks report in SiteCrawler, part of Botify's Analytics Suite, available with all Botify plans.

Outlink Report KPIs

The following KPIs for the current crawl are displayed at the top of the Outlinks report. Click a KPI to display the corresponding URLs in a URL Explorer report:

  • Total Number of Internal Follow Outlinks: The total number of follow outlinks pointing from pages crawled by Botify to pages in the same domain.

  • Average Internal Follow Outlinks by URL: The average number of follow outlinks pointing from pages crawled by Botify to pages in the same domain. Click on this KPI to view the number of outlinks for individual URLs.

  • URLs with Outlinks to non 2xx Status: The number of pages crawled by Botify with outlinks pointing to pages with "bad" HTTP codes (those that returned something other than a 2xx HTTP code).

  • URLs with Internal No Follow Outlinks: The number of pages crawled by Botify with outlinks pointing to nofollow pages within the same domain.

Outlinks Report Visualizations

The Outlinks report's "Top Charts" section includes the following visualizations. Visit the Segments section of the Outlinks report to see many of these visualizations focused on the page categories you have defined in your project segmentation:

Outlinks Distribution

This chart shows the distribution of follow and nofollow outlinks pointing from your site pages to other pages within the same domain and other domains, derived from the presence of a rel=nofollow link attribute or a meta follow tag.

Top Domains for External Outlinks

This table shows the external domains your site pages link to most frequently, the number of follow and nofollow links to each, and the proportion each represents of the total outlinks. Use the dropdown at the top of the table to view subdomain data.

Internal Pagerank Waste

This table shows the pages wasting your internal Pagerank because they are linking to pages that do not help your internal Pagerank for any of the following reasons:

  • URLs Outside of Project Scope: Your pages link to URLs not included in the domains and/or protocols set in project settings. See the Top Domains for External Outlinks table for examples of where these links go.

  • URLs Disallowed in robots.txt: Your pages link to pages blocked by your robots.txt file.

  • URLs in Project Scope but Not Crawled: Your pages link to pages Botify found but did not explore before the analysis stopped because either the maximum number of analyzed URLs or the maximum depth limit was reached. This may affect the Internal Pagerank calculation since the linked page is unknown.

Internal Nofollow Outlinks Distribution

This chart shows the distribution of nofollow links going to pages in the same domain because of the rel=nofollow link attribute, meta nofollow tag, disallow rule in the website's robots.txt file, or a combination.

Internal Nofollow Outlinks Destination Distribution

This chart shows the distribution of outlinks to pages by their indexability within the same domain. Your site should have a high proportion of your pages linking to indexable pages.

Internal Follow Outlinks Broken Links Destination

This chart shows the "bad HTTP status codes" (i.e., those other than 2xx) returned by pages to which other pages on your site are linking. Click on this chart to find the URLs with the broken links.
