📘 This article explains how to connect your AI assistant to the Botify MCP. Connecting to the Botify MCP is available on any Botify plan, though Gemini requires an Enterprise subscription plan.
🔌 Plugin availability: As of 16 September 2026, the Botify MCP plugin has been submitted to Anthropic and OpenAI but is not yet listed in Claude or ChatGPT. Until it appears in your LLM's catalog, connect using the connector — it reaches the same Botify MCP server and the same data. To check: search your LLM's plugin catalog for "Botify." If it isn't there, it hasn't shipped for your platform yet.
Overview
Botify MCP allows you to use Botify agents and insights directly inside your own AI tools without leaving their existing environment. You can query any Botify data source by simply asking your LLM. Botify MCP is supported by Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Dust, and any custom agent built on the MCP spec. Whether it appears as a plugin or a connector depends on what your platform currently lists.
Plugin vs. connector
Botify MCP is available via a plugin and a connector. Both provide greater flexibility with your data, including access across your Botify projects. We recommend installing the plugin as soon as it’s available since it will be packaged with skills that provide LLMs with specific instructions to automate tasks.
Prerequisites
The following are required to connect to and use the Botify MCP:
An AI client that supports MCP connections, such as Claude or ChatGPT.
The Botify MCP plugin or connector available in your LLM’s marketplace.
Access to a Botify project with at least one crawl and the data behind the questions you plan to ask. A question about log activity returns nothing useful if logs are not integrated with your project. See Troubleshooting the Botify MCP for the full list of what each kind of question needs.
👉 Since these processes occur outside Botify, we recommend referring to your LLM’s plugin and connector documentation, or ask your LLM directly how to perform them. The exact steps may differ based on the LLM and how the plugin or connector was deployed at your organization, but the instructions below outline the basic steps, using Claude as an example.
Connection details
The Botify MCP server URL is https://mcp.botify.com/. Your LLM administrator needs this URL when adding Botify as a custom connector.
Authentication and security
Authentication to the Botify MCP is available by OAuth only. Your AI client authorizes access when you connect it, so there is no key or token to copy, store, or rotate by hand.
Connecting to the MCP
Setting up Botify MCP in your LLM requires your LLM administrator enabling the plugin or connector, and you adding and authorizing them in your own account.
Administrator tasks
Your LLM administrator completes these steps once for your organization.
Enable access to the Botify plugin in your LLM.
If you are adding the connector instead, search for "Botify" in your LLM’s connector catalog, or add it as a custom connector to https://mcp.botify.com/.
Your tasks
After your administrator enables access, complete the following steps in your own account.
Search "Botify" in your LLM’s plugin catalog. Using Claude as an example, navigate to Settings > Customize > Plugins or Connectors.
If the Botify plugin appears, add it and authorize access. If it doesn't, add the connector instead. In Claude, click Connect next to “Botify MCP”.
Click Allow to authorize access.
When successfully connected, a confirmation message displays:
Using the connector
The connector provides a direct link to Botify’s MCP server. If you cannot move to the plugin because it is not yet available for your LLM or other reason, install the connector as explained above.
👀 If you move from the connector to the plugin, ensure you remove the connector after successfully installing the plugin.
❗️ If you participated in the Botify MCP Tech Preview, you must migrate your connector to the latest version.
Revoking your connection
To revoke the connection from to the Botify MCP, follow the instructions in your LLM’s documentation. In Claude, navigate to Settings > Customize > Plugins or Connectors, then click Disconnect.
