Migrating Your Botify MCP Connection

📘 This article provides the path forward for Botify MCP Tech Preview participants to continue using Botify MCP when it becomes generally available.

Overview

If you are participating in the Botify MCP Tech Preview, your connection to the Botify MCP is via the initial connector version. When the Botify MCP is generally available soon, a plugin will be available in addition to the connector. This documentation explains the steps required after the Tech Preview: either migrating to the plugin or upgrading to the latest connector.

Both the new connector and the plugin provide greater flexibility with your data, including access across your Botify projects. We recommend switching to the plugin as soon as it’s available since it will be packaged with skills that provide LLMs with specific instructions to automate tasks. Alternatively, you can continue using the connector, but you must update it as outlined in Continuing with the connector.

👉 Since these processes occur outside Botify, we recommend referring to your LLM’s plugin and connector documentation, or ask your LLM directly how to install them. Migrating from the original connector to the plugin or the latest connector is simple. The exact steps may differ based on the LLM and how the connector was deployed at your organization, but the instructions below outline the basic steps.

❗️The migration timeframe is from September 16 - October 30, 2026. Do not attempt to follow these instructions before this timeframe.

Migrating to the plugin

🔌 Plugin availability

While we have submitted the plugin for inclusion in LLM catalogs, we cannot predict exactly when it will become available in each LLM. If the plugin is not yet available, follow the instructions for Continuing with the connector.

As of this article’s publication date, plugin availability in Claude and ChatGPT is pending. We anticipate availability in other platforms soon.

  1. Your LLM administrator enables access to the plugin in your LLM.

  2. After your admin enables access, search "Botify" in your LLM’s plugin catalog. Using Claude as an example, navigate to Settings > Customize > Plugins.

  3. Add the Botify plugin and authorize its access.

  4. After the plugin is validated, disconnect the MCP connector.

Continuing with the connector

The connector provides a direct link to Botify’s MCP server. If you cannot move to the plugin because it’s not yet available for your LLM or other reason, you must verify your connector is on the latest version. If you use the MCP in scripted environments (i.e., outside a chat interface), this update is crucial since the latest version uses a new, unified OAuth URL.

❗️ Your LLM may automatically update the connector, but it’s important to verify you are on the latest version before October 30, 2026 to avoid interruption of service. If you attempt to use Botify MCP and get unexpected results, ask your LLM admin if the new connection URL has been set up.

To continue with the Botify MCP connector:

  1. Your LLM admin enables access to the new connector in your LLM by searching for “Botify” in the connector catalog or adding it is a custom connector to https://mcp.botify.com/.

  2. If your LLM prompts you to reconnect to Botify MCP, authorize its access.

👀 Botify MCP is moving to a credit-based packaging model with credits shared across your organization on a monthly cadence. More details to be published soon.
