📘 This article provides an overview of the URL Inspection report in URL details available via SiteCrawler's URL Explorer. SiteCrawler is part of Botify's Analytics Suite, available with all Botify plans.
Overview
The URL Inspection Report in URL Details provides actionable, page-level insights from Google Search Console’s (GSC) report, including indexation status and details and evaluations of structured data, video, and linked AMP.
While other Botify reports identify a page’s indexability (i.e., whether it is eligible to be indexed), they do not include the status in Google’s index. The URL Inspection report identifies:
Whether the page is in Google’s index at the time of the report.
Insights into why a page was not indexed.
Whether Google accepted the canonical since search engines can ignore canonical signals.
Missing or malformed structured data that prevents the page from displaying as a rich result in Google SERPs.
AMP issues that prevent the page from being highlighted in Google’s SERP carousel.
Prerequisite
To access the URL Inspection Report, you must have an integrated Google account with GSC permissions.
Generating the URL Inspection Report
The URL Inspection Report is available in URL Details, accessible from the SiteCrawler URL Explorer and RealKeywords Keywords Explorer. Click the eye icon next to a URL in an Explorer report to access URL details:
To generate a URL Inspection report, click the Inspect Page button. The report will populate the page after a few seconds.
👉 Inspection Report results reflect when Google last crawled the page (which may or may not be indexed). To see if the page has changed since the last crawl, inspect the current live page version directly in GSC.
URL Inspection Report Sections
The URL Inspection Report results are grouped into the following sections from GSC:
💡 Report fields and errors are surfaced from GSC. Use the “Google Guidance” report links to learn more from Google’s documentation.
Page Indexation Status
The Page Indexation Status section shows whether the page is in Google’s index or if any issue prevented it from being indexed. See recommendations on how to improve your indexation.
Rich Results
The Rich Results section shows the page's eligibility for Google SERPs Rich Results based on whether it contains relevant, correctly formatted structured data.
👉 This section is not shown if the page is not indexed.
AMP
The AMP section identifies whether the Accelerated Mobile Page (AMP) page is correctly formatted. AMP helps provide a good user experience, which is mandatory to be eligible for Google’s SERP carousel.
👉 This section is not shown if the page is not an AMP page or is not indexed.
Evaluating the Live Page Version
After generating the URL Inspection Report, you can check the page’s live version to evaluate it against the version Google last crawled. This is useful if an issue prevented the page from being indexed or if it was indexed but had rich results or AMP warnings/errors you have fixed and want to check without waiting for the next crawl.
👉 Evaluating the page's live version is for testing; it does not add the page to Google's index, and good results do not guarantee it will be indexed on Google's next visit.
To test the live version:
Click the Test Live in GSC button at the top of the page to open Google Search Console in a new window.
In GSC's URL Inspection tool, click Test Live URL to launch Google's test.
When complete, the results display on a new "Live Test" tab, enabling you to compare against Google's indexed version on the "Google Index" tab.
