π This article advises addressing a low delivery efficiency report in SpeedWorkers. SpeedWorkers is part of Botify's Activation Suite, available as an option with a Botify Pro or Enterprise plan.
Overview
A decreasing delivery efficiency means SpeedWorkers can no longer serve all pages from the cache. The Delivery Efficiency Over Time chart on the Overview page shows the delivery efficiency for the current period:
Description of the Problem
To learn more about delivery efficiency, click the "Investigate in delivery center" link on the Delivery Efficiency Over Time chart. Scroll to the bottom of the Delivery Center page to see the All Types of Failure chart. In this example, this chart shows an increase in the number of pages not cached as the reason for the decrease in delivery efficiency.
Possible Solutions
To address this problem, you need to investigate why SpeedWorkers cannot cache all of the pages requested by bots. First, determine if the pages were in the inventory for the selected period using one of the following methods:
Click on the Total Fetched Pages By Date chart on the Inventory Monitoring/Cache Refreshes page to drill into the "Not Cached" metric
Use the following filter in the SpeedWorkers URL Explorer:
If the pages were in the inventory:
If pages in the inventory cannot be refreshed, the Refresh Efficiency will also decrease. See the SpeedWorkers Use Case: Low Refresh Efficiency article for more information.
If the pages were not in the inventory:
Use the "Top Non-Delivered Pages (Not Cached) to Google by Behavior" Explorer bookmark in the SpeedWorkers URL Explorer to locate pages frequently requested by Google but not in the inventory.
βAdd other input sources to your inventory settings one at a time, evaluating the impact after adding each source. The goal is to know about >90% of the pages requested by bots, not to include every page of your site.
