๐ This article defines terms used in SpeedWorkers. SpeedWorkers is part of Botify's Activation Suite, available as an option with a Botify Pro or Enterprise plan.
The following terms are used in SpeedWorkers:
Cache: The group of pages that have been fetched and rendered to be served by SpeedWorkers. Cache also refers to the action of adding pages to the group.
Cache Behavior: SpeedWorkers settings that determine how the pages in your scope are fetched and rendered, and how long pages remain in page inventory.
Cache Miss: When a page cannot be added to or refreshed in the cache. There are many reasons why a page cannot be cached.
Delivery Efficiency: A measurement of bot requests that hit a cached page version vs a fallback to the origin servers.
Expired Page: An expired page was once in the SpeedWorkers cache, but its refresh and stale periods have passed. SpeedWorkers will attempt to cache expired pages again at the beginning of the next refresh period as defined in the Cache Behavior settings.
Fetch Speed: The rate at which SpeedWorkers fetches pages from an origin server.
Inventory: All sources from which SpeedWorkers can pre-render and cache pages to be served to bots.
Inventory Optimization Rule: A setting that allows you to refine the scope of your page inventory to filter out non-relevant URLs according to strategies and rules you define.
Outdated: See Stale.
Page Property: A page property describes the pageโs content or an element (e.g., a profile page or product availability), which is derived by extracting values from the page HTML. Botify defines page properties on your behalf to be used in Cache Behaviors Advanced Rules to help avoid refresh waste.
Quality Controls: Rules you define to help ensure that pages served to bots contain all of the useful content blocks needed for indexation.
Refresh: The act of adding a page to the SpeeedWorkers cache from the origin server for the first time or a subsequent update to maintain current content. The cache refresh rate is defined in the Cache Behavior settings.
Refresh Efficiency: The percentage of pages that are delivered to search engines from the SpeedWorkers cache while being up-to-date (as opposed to stale or expired).
Render Quality: The quality of SpeedWorkers delivery to bots, based on the quality controls you define in SpeedWorkers settings.
Stale: The state of a cached page at the end of the refresh period as defined in cache behaviors. Stale pages are not as current as cached pages, but SpeedWorkers can continue to serve stale pages to bots, which is preferred over expired pages, which can no longer be served. Also referred to as Outdated.
Scope: The pages to which the rule or behavior applies.
