πŸ›  This article explains how to set up the Google Analytics 360 integration with Botify. For the GA4 process, please refer to this article.

Overview

Google Analytics 360 stores its data in a database called Google BigQuery. Botify needs access to your dataset to pull the data and integrate it into your crawl reports. To complete this procedure, you must be an admin on the project to share and have activated the BigQuery Export as described on Google's site.

Configuring the GA Integration

Complete the following steps to set up the Google Analytics integration with Botify, and then Send a Request to Botify:

Retrieving Your GA Project and Dataset IDs

  1. Access the Google Developer Console using your professional Google account.

  2. Click the Select a project button in the middle of the page, then select a project to open.

    453

  3. Locate your project ID near the end of the project page's URL.
For example, xx-yyy is the project ID in this URL: https://console.developers.google.com/iam-admin/iam/project?project=__xx-yyy__&hl=en.
Keep this tab open to use when you create a Botify user.

  4. In another tab, locate your dataset ID by accessing your Google Analytics account.

  5. With the proper Account and Property selected on the Project Settings page, click View Settings:

  6. In your GA View, copy the View ID number, which is the dataset ID Botify needs to access your GA view:

Confirm Exports are Enabled in BigQuery

  1. Connect to your Google BigQuery interface to verify that exports are enabled.

  2. With the project and dataset selected, verify there is a table set called ga_sessions in the left menu and that there is at least one table in the table set with data (top of the right tab).

πŸ‘‰ If you just activated BigQuery Exports, you may need to wait 24 hours before seeing a table. For more information, refer to this Google article.

Create a Botify User in GA

  1. Back on the IAM & Admin page project view, click the ADD button at the top of the page to add a new user.

  2. Grant this user the following rights:

    • BigQuery Data Viewer (to view datasets and tables)

    • BigQuery User (to run queries)
