Google Analytics in Botify

Updated over a year ago

πŸ“˜ This article describes the benefits of integrating Google Analytics with Botify projects.

Overview

Google Analytics brings a new dimension to Botify reports. When you integrate your Google Analytics account with Botify, we import your visit data from search engines and social networks from the last 30 days. These performance indicators are mapped to SEO indicators from the Botify crawl analysis. Botify reports will identify areas that can be improved, such as the pages that generated organic visits but have duplicate HTML tags or those that did not generate visits because they are deep in the website structure.

Data Imported

When you integrate your Google Analytics with Botify, we import the following data for organic visits from all search engines and social networks:

  • Number of visits

  • Bounce rate

  • Number of pages per session

  • Session duration

Details for Google, Bing, Yahoo, Twitter, and Facebook are included and are stored URL-by-URL, which you can search via the URL Explorer. It is also aggregated into visits indicators, which are combined with SEO indicators from the Botify crawl analysis. Botify stores only data from organic or social visits. We aggregate all metrics by landing page and discard any other data related to other URLs.

Since it is important to have full visibility of visits on individual pages, not overall volume, we import your full Google Analytics data instead of sampling. Extrapolating with sample data would present a skewed analysis.

Refer to Integrating with Google Analytics for a list of the requested fields.

Google Analytics Data in Botify Reports

Information imported from Google Analytics appears in SiteCrawler's Visits section, which provides indicators for all search engines, social networks, and the most popular sources: Google, Bing, Yahoo, Twitter, and Facebook. The Visits section also combines visits data with SEO indicators: pages that generate visits vs. those that do not, pages by depth, HTML tags uniqueness, and internal links. You can browse data imported from Google Analytics through the URL Explorer, use criteria based on visits as filters in reports, and export results.

SiteCrawler will not trigger any visits while exploring the website because it does not execute JavaScript, so no "false visits" will be generated.
