Working with Saved Prompts

Updated in the last hour

πŸ“˜ This article explains how to use and create reusable prompts in Botify Assist. Botify Assist is available with any Botify plan.

Overview

Predefined prompts created by Botify, yourself, and your team help you get started quickly in Botify Assist. These saved prompts are stored in the Prompt Library, where you can reuse the prompts that you know work well for your routine tasks, share them across your team, and reduce the time to create effective prompts from scratch.

There are three types of saved prompts:

  • Botify: These prompts can help you get started quickly with common SEO, GEO, and AEO analysis tasks. You cannot edit or delete Botify saved prompts, but you can duplicate them to customize them.

  • Team: These prompts are created by you or a member of your Botify project team. Only the team member who created a Team saved prompt can edit and delete it.

  • Private: These are the saved prompts you create; they are not visible to anyone else.

Using saved prompts

Access saved prompts directly from the Prompt Library or within an Assist chat.

  1. Navigate to Assist > Prompt Library to find all saved prompts; or

  2. From the text box in an Assist chat, access the list of saved prompts by either:

    1. Pressing / on your keyboard, and typing part of the name or scrolling the list; or

    2. Clicking the + icon, and then selecting Saved prompts.

  3. Click the prompt name or expand the three-dot menu, then select Use prompt. If the prompt contains variables, you will need to identify values before you can use the prompt.

Managing saved prompts

You can take the following actions with saved prompts, depending on the type:

Duplicating saved prompts

Duplicating saved prompts is useful for creating new prompts based on existing ones, and for customizing Botify saved prompts and Team prompts created by other team members, since they are not directly editable. You can duplicate saved prompts from the Prompt Library or within an Assist chat.

To duplicate a saved prompt:

  1. Navigate to Assist > Prompt Library.

  2. Click the saved prompt card to open it, then click the Duplicate button at the bottom; or

  3. Expand the three-dot menu on the saved prompt card, then select Duplicate prompt. The saved prompt opens in edit mode.

  4. Rename the saved prompt to help you identify it and make any other desired changes.

  5. Click Create.

Alternatively, use the method defined in the Using saved prompts section to locate the prompt to duplicate.

Editing saved prompts

You can edit the Private and Team saved prompts you created. You cannot edit saved prompts created by Botify or other team members.

To edit a saved prompt:

  1. Navigate to Assist > Prompt Library.

  2. Click the saved prompt card to open it, then click the Edit button at the bottom; or

  3. Expand the three-dot menu on the saved prompt card, then select Edit. The saved prompt opens in a edit mode.

  4. Make the desired changes, including Private vs. Team visibility, then click Save changes.

Alternatively, use the method defined in the Using saved prompts section to locate the prompt to edit.

Deleting saved prompts

You can delete the Private and Team saved prompts you created. You cannot delete saved prompts created by Botify or other team members.

⚠️ Deleting a Team saved prompt deletes it for all team members.

To delete a saved prompt:

  1. Navigate to Assist > Prompt Library.

  2. Click the saved prompt card to open it, then click the Edit button at the bottom.

  3. Click Delete prompt, then click Delete in the confirmation dialog.

or

  1. Expand the three-dot menu on the saved prompt card, then select Delete.

  2. Click Delete in the confirmation dialog.

Alternatively, use the method defined in the Using saved prompts section to locate the prompt to delete.

Finding saved prompts

You can find saved prompts from an Assist chat, as shown in the Using saved prompts section, and in the Prompt Library. The saved prompts list in the Assist chat displays prompts in the order in which they were saved.

Use the following features to locate saved prompts in the Prompt Library:

  1. Search: Type a saved prompt name or portion of a name.

  2. Sort: Display by prompt names in alphabetical order or by the most recently modified prompt first.

  3. Filter by tag: Display only the saved prompts that are assigned to specific tags. Tags group saved prompts by category (see the Creating saved prompts section).

  4. Filter by visibility: Display only one type of saved prompt (i.e., Botify, Private, or Team).

Creating saved prompts

You can create new saved prompts from the Prompt Library and any Assist chat.

Creating a saved prompt from the Prompt Library

  1. In the Prompt Library, click Add a prompt.

  2. Provide a name and description to identify the prompt.

  3. Optionally select or create one or more tags to categorize the prompt. You can use these to filter the Prompt Library.

  4. In the Prompt field, provide the detailed instructions to tell Botify Assist exactly what output you expect, using Markdown syntax to define headings (e.g., ##) and double curly braces to define variables. Refer to Botify Assist Prompt Guidance for a prompt template and best practices.

  5. Select the desired prompt visibility: Private to only you, or available to everyone on your Botify project team. When you select β€œTeam”, only you will be able to edit and delete the prompt.

  6. Click Create.

Creating a saved prompt from an Assist chat

  1. From any Assist chat, hover over a prompt to display the Add to Prompt Library icon.
